Barbara K. Clement's Main Liners Tackle International Intrigue in Her two Latest Mysteries: The Pillar of Salt and Shadows

Kay Square Press announces the fourth and fifth release in the Main Liners Series.

NEWTOWN SQUARE, PA, November 17, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The imagination of Barbara K. Clement has intertwined the lives of her Main Liners with an international intrigue rooted deep in history. With the two latest installments of her Main Liner series: The Pillar of Salt and Shadows, Clement has taken her heroine, Jessica Rawlins, into the dangerous Middle East and across Europe in search of answers. At the same time, Clement has brought the threats of the Middle East and even Nazi Germany to the homes of the Main Line. "Rereading these books has been very entertaining," says Clement. "I'd forgotten how much I love the stories!"

Main Liners: The Pillar of Salt begins on the evening of Philadelphia society's esteemed Assembly Ball but quickly explodes into action when the Rawlins' favorite Aunt Annabelle is found dead in her hotel room. At the same time one of the Main Line's favorite characters, cousin Buster, disappears from the hotel, raising both suspicion at his involvement and concern for his safety. Again the intrepid Jessica Rawlins is called into service with the CIA to solve the murder and untangle the threads involving al-Qaeda, Israel, Iran, and top secret weapons programs. In the end, an exhausted Jessica pulls the phone out of the wall and disconnects another call from her CIA boss; "I'll get back to him in about a month or so," she says.

But Jessica can't stay away from adventure...or Clement can't stop dragging her into adventure. In Main Liners: Shadows, Jessica is asked by her dying godmother to search for "the secret in the shadows." What ensues are parallel stories of discovery, unraveling a complex history of Nazi art theft, heroic acts during World War II, and hidden art treasures in Europe and on the Main Line. According to Clement, "Philadelphia has the only FBI office in the country with experts in World War II art recovery, which makes the Main Line a perfect place for this mystery!"

The Main Line has a rich history and a picturesque landscape, and has served as home and playground for Philadelphia's elite for decades. It provides the perfect setting for Clement's mystery series. Pillar and Shadows are volumes four and five of the series that began with Legacy of Deceit, published in 2009.

Barbara K. Clement retired from Villanova University in 2008 to begin her career writing novels nestled among the old affluent families of the Main Line. It is from this inside view that she crafts her mystery series complete with romance, deception, money, and family connections. Previously, Ms. Clement was an executive with Leslie Fay Inc., a multi-faceted fashion company; an intelligence officer for the U.S. government; and a syndicated columnist for the Newhouse National News Service and Chicago Sun Times/Daily News Wire Service. For 2 years, she served as a foreign correspondent, covering Europe for the wire services from a home in Amsterdam and offices at the Palais du Bourbon in Paris. Ms. Clement recently completed her third title in the mystery series, Main Liners III: Vortex of Secrets.
