OREM, UT, November 18, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Despite Intelligent Hospital Systems receiving higher ratings in every metric, Aesynt surpassed them in terms of providers' likelihood to buy, largely due to a lower cost and smaller footprint. This and other findings are discussed in the latest KLAS report on IV robots and workflow management systems.

"Despite the risk for compounding errors, the early adoption of IV robots and use of workflow solutions like Baxter Healthcare DoseEdge System, have not kept pace with the threat because of cost concerns and competing priorities," said report author Paul Hess. "Although the i.v.STATION is much less expensive than the RIVA and the majority of customers reported getting an ROI quicker with the i.v.STATION, current RIVA customers indicated that the vendor experience and the robot's performance are well worth the extra money, rating the RIVA much higher on money's worth and overall performance."

As part of this report, KLAS asked providers across the country to evaluate their IV robots and workflow management solutions in areas such as performance, mindshare, throughput and other key metrics. The IV robot products included in the report are the Aesynt (Health Robotics) i.v.STATION, the Baxter Healthcare INTELLIFILL I.V., and the Intelligent Hospital Systems RIVA. The market for IV workflow management products is still dominated by Baxter Healthcare DoseEdge System, but other products mentioned in the report are Aesynt (Health Robotics) i.v.SOFT, BD Cato, Grifols PHOCUS Rx and MedKeeper PharmacyKeeper. Providers also anticipate the availability of CareFusion Pyxis IV and a component product from Epic, which aren't commercially available yet.
