INDIANAPOLIS, IN, November 25, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- David R. Diaz, MD of Larue D Carter Memorial Hospital, has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in psychosomatic medicine.

Dr. Diaz has 29 years of professional experience, with seven years as an MD of Larue D Carter Memorial Hospital. As an expert in psychosomatic medicine, he specializes in treating deaf patients with mental illness. Looking back, Dr. Diaz attributes his success to the fact that he works hard and has a good work ethic. He is also active in professional organizations that have allowed him to network. He became involved in his profession because he was always fascinated with the brain. He has enjoyed working with psychiatric patients and feels that being an advocate for the mentally ill is important.

Dr. Diaz received a Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of Evansville, where he graduated summa cum laude, and a Doctor of Medicine from the Indiana University School of Medicine, where he graduated with Highest Distinction. He was recently inducted into Worldwide Registry and also maintains affiliation with the Indiana Psychiatric Society, the Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine, the Indiana State Medical Association, the Indianapolis Medical Society and Alpha Omega Alpha. Among his many awards and accolades are a Top Doctors recognition by Castle Connolly from 2012-2014 and an Indianapolis Monthly Top Doctor recognition. In the coming years, Dr. Diaz is interested in doing more work with his colleague, who has already published a number of papers on topics such as the deaf and mental health issues. He would like to continue to develop that body of work and would like to see better access to care for deaf patients as well as all psychiatric patients. Additionally, he would like to pursue some type of suicide prevention initiative with health care workers and maybe with the general public.
