Karyn Parsons: Reclaiming Lost Black History... One Story at a Time with Sweet Blackberry | The True Nubia Network

Stories that illustrates how "great obstacles provide great opportunities to achieve great things"

LOS ANGELES, CA, December 01, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- "Tonight's special guest is truly a woman of many talents; model, actress, voice-over talent, producer, businesswoman and now - historian and activist, too. She has starred in movies and on a sitcom that was so successful, it's probably playing somewhere right now, as I speak... but, it's her latest project that will probably be what defines her in the annals of history - a very ambitious and passionate pursuit, indeed.

She intends to reclaim lost Black history - one story at a time - now, if THAT ain't downright heroic, i don't know what is. Tonight we get to commemorate the career of the awesome and beautiful Karyn Parsons," declared True Nubia Network host, Jakzun.

"As we all know, there's probably a handful of stories that we get told in school [about African-American history] and it is the same stories we hear over and over again. Mind you, they are amazing stories about incredible people... but it is only a handful of stories."

Karyn Parsons stressed that this "sends a dangerous message," which relegates African-American contributions to "a few special Black people that come along once in a while" but "there are so many more stories" and it is important that all children hear about these stories because it illustrates how "great obstacles provide great opportunities to achieve great things."
