SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY, December 10, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Citing the need for ultra high resolution photographic backdrops for the Inverse Media trade show display system, photographer Chris Thomas Carmel CA and assistant photographer Kristen Scannell Saratoga Springs NY recently photographed Zion National Park in Utah, Antelope Canyon in Paige Arizona and the Amangiri resort in Canyon Point, Utah.

Inverse Media specializes in trade show booth design, graphics and full turnkey logistics for several Fortune 500 companies in Northern America. One aspect that is troublesome from a designer's standpoint is finding adequate background images that are at a high enough resolution to print a quality tradeshow display panel. Typically these panels can range upwards from 8 to 80 feet, at even at lower DPI printing settings require an extremely large photographic image for high quality results.

The math behind printing goes like this, say you have an 8 foot (96 inches) wide graphic panel and wish to print at a crisp 200 dots (pixels) per inch, that would be 96 times 200 or 19,200 pixels across. While one can certainly zoom an image in Photoshop it does so adding much blur and artifacts the more you increase the size, it's always better to start with the highest resolution image. Modern DSLR professional cameras such as a Nikon or Canon typically can capture only 5,000 to 7,000 pixels wide due to the limitation of the sensor which is typically 3/4 of an inch large.

In order to gain the highest quality images Kristen Scannell and Chris Thomas shoot natural imagery using a Maymiya RB67 analog camera using medium format low-grain structure film (Fuji VPS and Kodak Ektar) that captures light on an almost 3 inch large plane gathering three times the amount of information than a digital camera. Film is then scanned using ultra high resolution scan drummers capable of producing the 20,000 pixels in width to print large murals at their highest level of quality. " The details are amazing" - Kristen Scannell.

These backdrops are available for licensing for corporate trade shows and events.
