The Village Bread Cafe came about through its adjacent location to the original bakery that makes bread for more than 400 restaurants and hotels in Northeast Florida. The bakery's bread is made and delivered within hours of the ovens, and is served that day and into the second day.

The cafe opened its doors in 2009, and has since grown to include three restaurants in parts of Jacksonville, Florida. The cafe currently serves breakfast and lunch. All recipes are made to order by chefs at each location, with the bread pudding in particular being something that people travel to buy. The Village Bread Cafe uses Challah bread for its French toast, and prides itself on its filled three-egg omelets. "With Belgian waffles, buttermilk pancakes and sauces to toppings, we have you covered for breakfast."

For lunch, the fresh-baked bread takes center stage, making the cafe's sandwiches that much better. The generous portions of its cold salads and fresh, hot soups have customers lining up to try the half-soup half-salad lunch combination. All tables come with a complimentary Pane Pisano Bread with olive oil and seasoning made specifically for this type of bread. The panini and personal pizzas are both made with fresh-baked ciabatta bread, making those type of entrees very special.
