The Napa Valley Wine Train Announces a New and Exclusive Winter Train

The Vista Dome Premier will be open with incredibly limited seating.

NAPA VALLEY, CA, January 08, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Napa Valley Wine Train, one of the most distinctive restaurants in the Napa Valley, is announcing an entirely new train experience designed to highlight the beauty of the winter season.

Beginning in January 2015, the Napa Valley Wine Train will operate the Vista Dome Premier Train for lunch, on select weekdays through February. This elite train will consist of fewer cars than the usual Wine Train. While the rest of the Wine Train's collection of 100 year old railcars are undergoing restoration, the Champagne Vista Dome, Grappa Power Car, a Lounge Car and the rarely experienced Deli Car will be connected to form the exclusive Vista Dome Premier. With a maximum capacity of only 56 guests, this will be a private venue to experience the elegance of the Napa Valley without worrying about tasting room crowds.

"This is very exciting for us," said Kira Devitt, Director of Marketing and Public Relations for the Napa Valley Wine Train. "We have never joined this limited collection of railcars together before and are looking forward to showcasing the allure of Napa Valley's Cabernet Season in a semi-private setting."

Guests will be welcomed at their tables with a glass of Californian sparkling wine before enjoying the trademark gourmet lunch upstairs in the elevated Champagne Vista Dome. This dining room will serve the only guests on the entire train. During their dining experience, they will be encouraged to relax in the Lounge Car, enjoy the views from Grappa's large windows and visit the Deli Car that is not often open to the public.

The Champagne Vista Dome is a two story rail car that was built in 1952 and was one of the first ten full dome cars constructed by Pullman Standard. Today, the Champagne Vista Dome offers exclusive luxury dining upstairs and a state of the art kitchen downstairs.

The Deli Car, originally built for the Southern Pacific Railway, was acquired by the Wine Train in 1990 and is primarily used during special events.

The Grappa Power Car, originally an abandoned boxcar, is believed to be the only power car in existence that passengers can enter and walk through while in operation. It is aptly named after the strongest alcoholic beverage made from grapes.

All four of the Wine Train's Lounge Cars, one of which will be joined to the Vista Dome Premier Train, were built in 1915 by Pullman Standard and are celebrating their 100th birthday in 2015.
