University of Houston Optometry is now Recruiting Children for a Contact Lens Study for Nearsighted (myopic) Kids

The University of Houston College of Optometry is now recruiting children ages 7-11 for a contact lens research study.

HOUSTON, TX, February 01, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Enrolled children will receive free eye care, contact lenses, contact lens solution (with cases), and eye glasses (if frame allowance is not exceeded) during the study.

The study will determine whether soft bifocal contact lenses (typically used to help people older than 40 see up-close) slow the progression of nearsightedness (difficulty seeing far away). Qualified children will be randomly assigned to wear one of three, commercially available, soft contact lenses being used in the study: a spherical (regular) contact lens, or one of two bifocal contact lenses. This study involves nine visits over a three-year period at the College of Optometry.

Local Houstonians can also get more information and sign up their children at The Woodlands Mom Expo: at the U of H Optometry booth (show link below). All families can get FREE tickets to the show emailed to them- provided by the University of Houston College of Optometry- by requesting by phone or their email below.

The Woodlands Mom Expo is one of the largest shows in the nation for families and their children, and currently in 9 major cities, and will return for the 5th year to The Woodlands, Texas on February 6th and 7th, at the Legends Sports Complex. Everyone is invited: expecting mothers, parents with babies and toddlers, to school-age children and grandparents. Everything from child development, education, health and wellness, home and family needs, sports and fitness, entertainment, and networking for mothers will be in abundance.
