Ronald G. Wheeland, MD, Excels in the Treatment of Skin Cancer and the Use of Lasers

Dr. Wheeland has authored more than 200 publications, 34 book chapters and 35 abstracts.

    TUCSON, AZ, February 25, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Ronald G. Wheeland, MD, of Lasers and Skin Cancer Technologies, has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in skin cancer treatment and uses of medical and cosmetic laser surgery.

Dr. Wheeland currently heads a medical practice that provides clinical trials and research on the uses and advantages of lasers as well as the treatment of skin cancer. He was listed in the 10th edition of America's Top Doctors, was named one of America's Top Doctors by Vitals, and received a Patients' Choice award. Dr. Wheeland has authored more than 200 publications, 34 book chapters and 35 abstracts. He is a past president of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, Arizona Dermatologic Surgical Association, and Pacific Dermatologic Association.

Dr. Wheeland is the former head of the Section of Dermatology at the University of Arizona College of Medicine. He also served as professor and chairman of the Department of Dermatology at the University of California at Davis and at the University of New Mexico. More recently, he was in private practice in Santa Fe, NM.

In addition, Dr. Wheeland previously served as the medical editor of "Cosmetic Surgery Times" and on the editorial boards of "The Journal of Drugs in Dermatology, Dermatologic Surgery" and "Lasers in Surgery and Medicine."

Dr. Wheeland holds board certifications in dermatology and dermatopathology. He received his medical degree from the University of Arizona in 1973. He then completed an internship in internal medicine before heading to the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (1974-1977) to complete a residency in dermatology and a fellowship in dermatopathology. He also completed a fellowship in Mohs, Laser and Cosmetic Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation (1983-1984).

Recently inducted into Worldwide Registry, he attributes the success he has found over the past 35 years to hard work and dedication.
