Prolific Swedish Musician Announces New Band With 'Powerful Rock Songs' That Come As 'Second Nature'

Musician-vocalist Jonas Blomqvist announces Second Nature

"It's commercial radio rock inspired by the Foo Fighters, Green Day, punk rock and pop."

LOS ANGELES, CA, March 06, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jonas Blomqvist, Swedish musician-vocalist extraordinaire, is announcing Second Nature, a new rock band that will release their self-titled debut album May 1.

Second Nature features Blomqvist (guitar/backup vocals), Sweden's Calle 'CJ' Hokdal (drums), Rick Lambert (lead guitar) and Kevin Lambertucci (bass). YengLan Emma Beller is Second Nature's lead singer and the group features all new original music and songwriting by Blomqvist.

"It's commercial radio rock inspired by the Foo Fighters, Green Day, punk rock and pop," said Blomqvist, renowned for his songwriting on the hit Bhavana Reddy single, "Smells Like Rain," which reached the top one percent among 19,000 worldwide submissions at the 2014 International Songwriting Competition. "I started getting into the Foo Fighters. It was really inspiring and that kind of fired me up to start writing my own songs."

Emma Beller said, "Jonas is a mastermind and brings everything to the table. The songs are really catchy! I also really like the way each individual member fits to play this music and when it all comes together well it simply sounds powerful and undeniable. Listeners will hear powerful rock songs that will get their attention straight away. They will want to hum the lyrics at home, in the car and at work. The vibe in these songs is very positive and hopeful, and I think people can really get behind these songs and what they make you feel as a listener."

The Second Nature debut album is scheduled for digital distribution on CD Baby, Spotify and all major digital music retailers.

The album expresses relatable themes of love, companionship, inspiration and the perseverance in chasing dreams. "I write kind of personal stuff," said Blomqvist, a Stockholm native. "When I was growing up, I listened to a lot of classical music. My Dad is a classical piano player. I had a lot of greatest hit records from the 90s, which drove me to write popular stuff. My most important influence was Metallica. I just instinctively knew and fell in love with music, and knew this is what I wanted to do. I was 13 years old. I carry that feeling with me today."

As for Second Nature, Blomqvist says, "The group sounds really energetic with interesting harmonies and well-connected parts of songs, songs that take you some where. With a female lead singer, you get more of an edgy sound, which is cool."

Working in music since 2006, Blomqvist has recorded in 18 different studios in Sweden and the U.S. including Hybrid Sound Visions with engineer Dirk Kloiber (Manowar, Rhapsody of Fire) and Unison Studios with Grammy nominated producer/engineer Bruce Witkin, who has also worked with Johnny Deep, Joe Perry and LA Guns, among others.

Blomqvist has played a critical role as musician and vocalist in more than 65 live shows spanning India, Sweden and throughout the U.S, including such renowned venues as Saban Theater, House of Blues, Whisky A Go Go and Viper Room.

In January and February, Blomqvist toured and performed as musician and vocalist with India's renowned solo artist, Bhavana Reddy. The tour spanned ten shows and songwriting clinics across the country's biggest cities, reaching thousands of fans and showcased music from Bhavana Reddy's "Tangled in Emotions" album, which was recorded and mixed by John Would (Fiona Apple, Iggy Pop) and mastered by Reuben Cohen ("Slumdog Millionaire," "Game of Thrones"). "Tangled in Emotions" debuted at No. 19 on the CMJ radio music charts and played on more than 40 radio stations in the U.S., Canada, India and Australia.

"Jonas is the most competent guitar player I know," Reddy said. "I wouldn't have flown him to India if he wasn't! We have known each other for three and a half years and he helped me start this whole project. If it wasn't for Jonas, this whole project might not have been as successful as it is today. He brings a great spirit to the group and this is very important when you are on tour. This being my project, I had a lot of stress on my shoulders throughout and it's priceless to have somebody like Jonas in the band when things are stressful. He is a real pro!"

Collaborating last year with Bhavana Reddy, "Smells Like Rain" became a 2014 Unsigned Only Finalist Nominee, an international achievement in a competition that mines thousands of submissions from around the globe for most outstanding music. "Smells Like Rain" also distinguished itself among the top one percent of 19,000 worldwide submissions at the 2014 International Songwriting Competition.

Blomqvist has played and appeared in music videos such as Bhavana Reddy's "Smells Like Rain," Suns of Defiance's "Welcome to LA," Rachelle & The Rising's "Anything," "We Must Be One" and "Kickstart My Heart," Superfix's "Invasion" and Everwhere's "Hate." Blomqvist was featured as guitar player and vocalist with Rachelle And The Rising in the Staci Layne Wilson-directed feature film, "Fetish Factory," which was produced by Jennifer Blanc ("The Divide," "The Victim") and Michael Bein ("The Terminator," "Aliens").

He's collaborated with many distinguished artists, producers and engineers such as Korn's Kalen Chase, John Would, Mehdi Hassine, Urvah Kahn, Autumn Skibinski, Only On Tuesdays, Grammy nominated Bruce Witkin and many more.
