OXNARD, CA, March 18, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The community is invited to Women and What We Love, a fundraising event benefitting the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme (BGCOP) and its programs, which serve over 9,200 youth in the community. The event features premium wines, gourmet small plates, desserts, live and silent auctions, goodie bags and live music, and will be held 5-8 p.m. on April 27 at The Waterside Restaurant and Wine Bar, 3500 Harbor Blvd., Channel Islands Harbor, Oxnard.

"This is a labor of love for so many women who are pitching in to make it happen. We all love to shop, spend time with friends and enjoy great food and wine. To be able to do that while helping our Club youth at the same time is a great feeling," said Nancy Mayerson, event sponsor and organizer.

Live and silent auction items include vacation getaways, gift certificates to local restaurants, beauty products, accessories and more.

Tickets for Women and What We Love are $50 each or three for $120. To purchase tickets, visit http://www.womenandwhatwelove.eventbrite.com. All proceeds directly benefit BGCOP.

Last year, the inaugural Women and What We Love event raised nearly $12,000 to help support the Boys & Girls Club's numerous projects. Their programs promote music and the arts, character and leadership and technology as well as provide resources for children, teens and parents. This year, the Club hopes to match, if not exceed, that total in order to keep serving the community.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme exists to inspire and enable all young people to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens. The Club has served the youth of Oxnard and Port Hueneme for 60 years. With three full-service clubs, 18 school program sites and one housing site, the organization is one of the largest of its kind in California, serving more than 9,200 members annually. It's also the first Boys & Girls Club of its kind to open in the Juvenile Justice Center. Program areas offered to youth include character and leadership development, education and career development, health and life skills, the arts, technology and sports/fitness/recreation opportunities.
