    DENVER, CO, April 03, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- A. Thomas Elliott Jr., an attorney and counselor at law specializing in criminal defense. civil rights, and education law, and transgender law, has been recognized for showing dedication. leadership and excellence in law practice.

Mr. Elliott's interest in fair criminal procedures began while attending Stanford University where he was disciplined for a minor scrape with the law and required to observe criminal proceedings. After obtaining a Bachelor of Science in psychology from Stanford, Mr. Elliott went on to graduate from the University of Colorado School of Law in 1969. While in law school, he served as a summer law clerk for the Los Angeles Public Defender's office. Upon graduating, he was admitted to practice in Colorado, the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit and ultimately in 1982, he was admitted to practice in the U.S. Supreme Court. He served as law clerk for the Chief Justice of the Colorado Supreme Court before entering private practice.

Mr. Elliott has practiced law for 46 years, and has been the recipient of awards and honors for both his legal work and dedication to his community, including receiving an AV Attorney rating by Martindale-Hubbell; becoming a graduate of the Denver Police Department's Citizen's Police Academy; mentoring with Colorado Youth at Risk at Manual High School; being named an Outstanding Young Man in America; and early on receiving the Thom McAn Trophy as Colorado's Most Valuable High School Football Player and Scholar. He has litigated many significant legal cases and published articles on "Procedures for Civil Commitment on the Basis of Alleged Mental Illness" and recovery of attorneys' fees.

Prior to establishing his solo law practice in 1987, Mr. Elliott was resident Legal counsel for the University of Northern Colorado and corporate legal counsel and executive secretary to the Board of Trustees for Regis College and Regis High School as well as Assistant to the President at Metropolitan State College.

Mr. Elliott takes pride in helping his clients achieve the best possible outcome, whether they face criminal charges or some other situation in their lives causing them legal trauma. His motto is: "All crimes. All courts." His passion is coping with irrational governmental authority. He has courageously represented individuals accused of socially reprehensible crimes in even the most unfriendly of courts.
