New Novel About the Underground Railroad, "Ere Aworan," Defends Harriet Tubman's Claims of Numbers of Slaves Saved

Many have criticized Harriet Tubman and her son's claims over how many slaves were actually saved by Mrs. Tubman. In a new novel, "Ere Aworan," Author Michael Jay Nusbaum proves those numbers to be true and defends Mrs. Tubman's legacy.

"I was shocked to read about how many people have criticized Harriet Tubman and her son's claims over how many slaves were actually saved," said Michael Jay Nusbaum. "I have proved she was correct."

MENDHAM, NJ, April 07, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- "I was shocked to read about how many people have criticized Harriet Tubman and her son's claims over how many slaves were actually saved by Mrs. Tubman," said author Michael Jay Nusbaum. "I was so happy to learn that Mrs. Tubman had actually saved over 700 slaves in one single raid into Confederate territory. This one instance alone proved that the claims made by Mrs. Tubman and her son were true. Thus, I felt the need to tell the story and put to rest any questions about this amazing woman- Mrs. Tubman."

After extensive research of African American History as well as being politically and socially active for civil rights, Nusbaum wrote "Ere aworan" (published by Xlibris) to further the discussion of the story of slavery in America.

A story of the Underground Railroad, slavery, love, hope and redemption, "Ere aworan" follows Osumaka and his family who are abducted from Africa. It portrays Osumaka's perspective as they were separated and sent into slavery as well as his experiences through the Middle Passage. Ultimately, Osumaka escapes into the Underground Railroad only to meet and join forces with Harriet Tubman in the fight for freedom.

Though a work of fiction, "Ere aworan" is based around real historical events, and its narrative could still teach readers about the history of slavery around the time of the Civil War. It is Nusbaum's hope that, in reading this story, his readers will not only learn about the Africa Squadron and realize how active Harriet Tubman was in fighting for the Union and for freedom but also continue the dialog of slavery in America.
