Jackson Design & Remodeling Earns Two National CotY Awards in Highly Competitive Kitchens Categories

San Diego-Based Firm Stands Out as One of Only Two Companies in the Nation to Receive Multiple National CotY Awards

SAN DIEGO, CA, April 25, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- San Diego-based Jackson Design & Remodeling (JDR) is proud to announce it has won two National Contractor of the Year Awards (CotY) from The National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI). JDR's wins were both in the highly competitive "Kitchens" category: the first in the "Kitchen $100,001 to $150,000" category for a colorful, mid-century modern kitchen, and the second award in the category "Residential Kitchen over $150,000" for a natural modern kitchen that featured varying styles of rustic wood. The company received two of the five total National CotY Awards given to projects in the Kitchens category. The most highly competitive category, 20 percent of the award program's total entries are in the Kitchens category.

The two winning kitchens were designed by JDR's award winning Design and Architectural Teams led by Senior Designer Sol Quintana Wagoner and Residential Designer John Kavan.

This year, 390 entries were submitted to the competition, totaling more than $85.5 million worth of remodeling projects. From there, 160 remodeling companies received Regional CotY Awards, automatically advancing the recipients to compete at the national level. The national awards ceremony, An Evening of Excellence, was held on April 17 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. NARI hosted a live webcast revealing the 2015 national winners, which is archived for viewing for 30 days. To see the webcast, click here.

"We're incredibly honored to receive two National CotY Awards this year," said Todd Jackson, CEO of Jackson Design and Remodeling. "These prestigious awards, judged by our peers, are among the most respected in the industry. Sol did an incredible job on the designs and our whole design-build team went above and beyond to create these two striking kitchens expressing our clients' individual needs and lifestyles. Developing innovative projects like these is a group effort, and I couldn't be happier to represent this impressive team of designers, architects and project managers."

JDR's two winning kitchens include:

Residential Kitchen $100,001 to $150,000: Bright Hues
Sol Quintana Wagoner, Senior Interior Designer, Member ASID
Assistant Designer Marisela Contreras
Residential Designer John Kavan

The vibrant and unexpected color palette of the kitchen in this mid-century modern home is inspired by the first piece of art the clients bought for their baby daughter. The young, creative couple wanted to live in a bright, energizing and artistic environment with a comfortable family vibe. Senior Designer Sol Quintana Wagoner was the ideal designer to breathe color into a once dark and drab space. Pastel inspired hues of turquoise, green, orange and purple brighten the kitchen while the multi-colored tiled wall creates a stunning visual, seamlessly blending the vibrant colors inside with the scenery outside. To integrate the kitchen and living space with appealing continuity, the design team created an innovative architectural element in the ceiling composed of three separate layers. Energy and color infuse this new kitchen with a fresh modern attitude in a design that is dramatically more open and integrated with the rest of the home.

Residential Kitchen over $150,000: Natural Modern
Sol Quintana Wagoner, Senior Interior Designer, Member ASID
Assistant Designer Marisela Contreras
Residential Designer John Kavan

Designed for a well-traveled couple who wanted a kitchen to reflect their unique lifestyle, this space is anything but ordinary. JDR Senior Designer Sol Quintana Wagoner created this stunning space that expresses a refined point of view with an open concept, artfully connecting the living areas with the home's natural environment. New windows and glass doors now fill the kitchen with light and circulation, creating a calming sense of indoor/outdoor living. One of the most intriguing features in the kitchen is a live edge rosewood table handmade with meticulous detail. Inspired by a piece of wood the clients discovered, the designers matched wood grains, built iron legs and created a bronze support piece to create this one-of-a-kind element. Throughout the kitchen, rectangles of white and dark colors and open and closed spaces create an intriguing visual duality. The interplay of textures with the clean lines of the open floor plan creates an engaging design for family life and entertaining.
