Park Heights Renaissance Names Cheo Hurley as Executive Director

Former interim President and CEO unanimously approved by PHR Board.

BALTIMORE, MD, May 21, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Park Heights Renaissance (PHR) Board recently announced that Cheo D. Hurley, who previously served as the Interim President and CEO of PHR since September 2014, has been unanimously approved as Executive Director. As Executive Director, Hurley will oversee all operations of the non-profit organization, including administration, community relations, finance, and real estate/economic development.

The Board's Executive Committee undertook a national search for a new leader over the past several months, and ultimately made the recommendation that Hurley retain his leadership role, which was reaffirmed by a unanimous Board vote conducted Feb. 25, 2015.

"The Committee overwhelmingly supported Cheo as the new Executive Director," said PHR Board Chairman Larry Jennings. "Cheo has exceeded my demanding expectations in the areas of financial accountability, creativity, community sensitivity and general management."

A Baltimore native, Hurley has been with PHR since 2009. He served as Vice President for Community and Economic Development, prior to becoming interim leader of the organization this past September.

"I am humbled and grateful for the opportunity to continue to lead the Park Heights Renaissance," Hurley said. "There are tremendous challenges and opportunities in Park Heights and it's my goal and mission to support the community through thoughtful planning, investment and follow-through."

Hurley is a graduate of Howard University, with an undergraduate degree in Finance. He also holds a Masters degree in Public Administration from American University and a Masters in Real Estate from the Johns Hopkins Carey School of Business. Locally he attended the Gilman School. Hurley is extremely active in Baltimore communities, serving on the Baltimore City Planning Commission, the Baltimore Educational Scholarship Trust (BEST) Board of Trustees, and was recently appointed to the WYPR Board of Directors.
