Dr. David M. Fastenberg Serves Patients throughout Queens and Long Island

Dr. David M. Fastenberg has been listed in New York Magazine for his contributions to the retina vitreous field



He previously served as President of the Long Island Ophthalmologic Society.

    GREAT NECK, NY, May 28, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- David M. Fastenberg, MD, has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in vitreoretinal surgery.

Dr. Fastenberg has been listed in New York Magazine, New York Times Super Doctors, the Castle Connelly Guide and the Best Doctors in America Guide for his contributions to the retina vitreous field. He has been a partner with Long Island Vitreoretinal Consultants (LIVR) since 1982 and also serves as an associate clinical professor of ophthalmology at Hofstra University, as well as vice clinical chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at North Shore Long Island Jewish Health System.

Dr. Fastenberg chose a career in medicine because he considered the field both challenging and stimulating. He received a medical degree from New York Medical College, completed an internship in internal medicine at Metropolitan Hospital Medical Center in New York and a residency in ophthalmology at Northwestern University in Chicago. He then went on to complete a fellowship in medical and surgical disorders of the retina and vitreous at the Estelle Doheny Eye Institute at the University of Southern California School of Medicine in Los Angeles. Dr. Fastenberg is recognized by his peers for his involvement in clinical trials at LIVR as the principal and co-investigator for diseases, such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and retinal vascular occlusions.

Dr. Fastenberg is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and a member of the American Medical Association, Retina Society, Vitreous Society and the New York State Ophthalmologic Society. Additionally, he has served on the Board of Trustees at Nassau University Medical Center as a Nassau County Legislative appointee. He previously served as President of the Long Island Ophthalmologic Society.
