DownTown Mystic On E STREET

Roots Rocker backed by Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame Rhythm Section on New Release.

NEW YORK, NY, June 09, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Sha-La Music, Inc. announces the release of DownTown Mystic On E Street, a 4 song EP by Roots Rocker DownTown Mystic that features the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame rhythm section from Bruce Springsteen's legendary E Street Band--drummer "Mighty" Max Weinberg & bassist Garry W. Tallent. The EP's release date is June 22 and will be digitally distributed by The Orchard. The songs are available for download to Radio prior to the official release date via AirPlay Direct, where the EP has already reached #1 on the APD Rock Albums & Singles Charts.

Celebrating the recording sessions with one of the greatest rhythm sections in rock history, DownTown Mystic On E Street puts DownTown Mystic in some very exclusive company. Other than "The Boss", Garry and Max have only backed a handful of artists in the studio, like iconic rocker Ian Hunter after he left Mott The Hoople. Of course Steve Holley and Paul Page, the current rhythm section for Ian Hunter's Rant Band have played on the last 2 DownTown Mystic albums, cementing the rocker's connection to both artists. DownTown Mystic writer/producer Robert Allen comments, "For Rock'n'Roll currency, playing with the guys who have backed up 2 of the most accomplished rockers in history is a dream come true. It just doesn't get any better than that!"

As the follow-up to the Turn Around and Go Digital Single released in March, the 4 songs on the EP--Hard Enough, And You Know Why, Way To Know & bonus track Sometimes Wrong, are readily known in Radio and TV circles. Way To Know had big success at Radio worldwide and went to #1 on the Roots Music Report last year, as well as being played on NBC TV's The Voice. The retro rocker Hard Enough attracted critical attention in Europe. As Robert explains, "Hard Enough was originally released in Europe as an extra track on the Standing Still album (Sony Music) but was not on the US version. The European Press really focused on Hard Enough in the reviews because of the E Street connection, and luckily it received favorable comparisons to Springsteen and The Stones. But to be honest, I think that we played it more like Rockpile (featuring Dave Edmunds and Nick Lowe)."

The emotionally charged And You Know Why is a song with a history of being recorded by female singers. Previously, Robert co-produced a Pop/Rock version with Garry, and another Dance/Pop version that Robert produced became a big sync placement. Top LA Music Supervisor Alexandra Patsavas/Chop Shop Music heard the track and placed it in the short lived TV series The Carrie Diaries. Robert adds, "It's always been one of my most important songs, but I find it difficult to sing because the amount of emotion needed is challenging, which is probably why women like to sing it."

DownTown Mystic On E Street is a showcase for DownTown's motto,"vintage yet modern", thanks to the "old school" rock'n'roll vibe it gets courtesy of the 2 E Streeters. Robert adds, "It was such an honor to play with Garry & Max...I never wanted the sessions to end. They play so intuitively together--just a look from each other and they instinctively know what they're going to play or where to go next. It was very cool to watch and be a part of." Now the rest of the world can be part of it too.
