Jeffrey Bloom Added to New Jersey Roster of Mediators for Economic Aspects of Family Law Cases

Mediation program provides parties in divorce cases a confidential environment to resolve economic issues

I believe my experience as an MESP panelist and financial background will enable me to effectively help couples resolve their differences

HACKENSACK, NJ, July 07, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Bergen County family lawyer Jeffrey Bloom has been named this month to the statewide Roster of Mediators for Economic Aspects of Family Law Cases. Comprising of attorneys who devote a substantial portion of their legal practice to family law as well as professionals in the financial and mental health sectors, each New Jersey county has a mediation program in place to provide couples engaged in divorce proceedings with a means to resolve economic concerns confidentially and on mutually agreeable terms.

According to the New Jersey Judiciary website, parties in a divorce case may request referral to a mediator at any point before a matrimonial early settlement panel (MESP) is held. If the parties are unable to resolve financial issues after hearing the recommendations of the MESP, the court will refer the case to mediation.

"I am very pleased to be a financial mediator," Bloom said. "I believe my experience as an MESP panelist and financial background will enable me to effectively help couples resolve their differences efficiently, saving them both time and money so they can move on with their lives."

In order to become a mediator on the Roster of Mediators for Economic Aspects of Family Law Cases, professionals must complete 40 hours of training.

Divorce is one of the most stressful events anyone can experience in life, and disagreements on economic matters such as the division and distribution of property, determination of child support obligations and other issues often become the most intense points of contention during the proceedings. According to the Family Practice Division of the New Jersey Judiciary, "in most instances, mediation saves the parties time and money" and creates an opportunity for the divorcing parties to make beneficial decisions for the family outside of the courtroom.
