Brooklyn Chess Festival Begins This Saturday! Free Chess Tournaments and other fun activities for families and players of all levels!

BROOKLYN, NY, August 13, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- New York Chess and Games is proud to announce that the second annual Brooklyn Chess Festival will take place on Saturday, August 15th in Brooklyn, New York at Dr. Ronald McNair Park which is located on Eastern Parkway and Washington Avenues.

The Brooklyn Chess Festival will feature a full day of chess activities including a scholastic chess tournament for kids in grades 1 through 8 and an open United States Chess Federation rated tournament for kids in 9th grade or above and adults of all skill levels.

New York Chess & Games founder and director, Christian Whitted is very excited about this years participants. For the second year in a row Grandmaster Giorgi Kacheishvili will take on all challengers and play everyone who sits down at his circle of tables - at the same time! Last year he took on 30 people at once and gave an awesome display of chess skill and stamina.

This year, National Master Joshua Colas, Fide Master Andre Krasnov and Edward R Murrow high school chess team star, Azeez Alade will also face off against all challengers at the "Play The Master" table.

Mr. Christian and the rest of the New York Chess and Games staff will conduct "learn to play" and "learn to play better" chess clinics for anyone wishing to improve their game and offer expert advice on strategy, tactics and winning techniques.

For those who like the fast paced action of speed chess or "blitz" as it's commonly known, Film Barn Brooklyn is sponsoring a thrilling 5 minute speed chess tournament.

New York City Parks Department deputy chief Ronee Mattingly is excited about bringing this event to life again and wants everyone from every borough in New York City to "come out to Brooklyn on Saturday, August 15th and enjoy a game of chess with us!"
