John F. Lushis Jr. Recognized for Excellence in Law with Induction into Worldwide Registry

    ALLENTOWN, PA, August 27, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- John F. Lushis Jr., Partner of Norris McLaughlin & Marcus, P.A., has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in transaction law.

For almost 35 years, Mr. Lushis has practiced in the fields of real estate, financings, environmental law, contract work and transactional law. He spent the first 23 years of his career at Bethlehem Steel Corporation in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, serving in various capacities including as counsel in the Law Department, and as a Division Manager in the Finance Department. As a partner of Norris, McLaughlin & Marcus, P.A., he is tasked with providing counsel on numerous transactions, including loan transactions, corporate restructurings, acquisitions and divestitures, leases of commercial properties, industrial development authority financings (including complex bond financings and tax increment financings) and a wide array of commercial agreements. He also serves as one of the firm's corporate environmental attorneys, where he focuses on soil and groundwater issues, including remediation of contaminated sites, among which is one of the largest private brownfield sites in the United States.

Through self sacrifice, hard work, and determination, as well as the support of his family and teachers, Mr. Lushis has become a successful lawyer. The first in his family to attend college, he has been able to reinvent himself several times and be the best attorney possible without losing sight of his ethics or values. He is most proud of his work serving as one of the two lead attorneys on the 1.5 billion sale of Bethlehem Steel's assets in a bankruptcy-related sale in 2003, having passed the Patent Bar through self-study, and receiving the 2006 Person of the Year award from the Lehigh Valley Notre Dame Alumni Club for community service.

Having graduated cum laude from the University of Notre Dame in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Mr. Lushis decided to combine his technical background with a legal education and received a Juris Doctorate degree from the Dickinson School of Law at The Pennsylvania State University in 1980. He is admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania, the District of Columbia, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, U.S. Supreme Court, and U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Recognized for his excellence in law, he has recently been inducted into Worldwide Registry. Further, he is an AV Preeminent Rated lawyer, and is featured in the Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers.

Additionally, Mr. Lushis acts as the Community Service Director for the Notre Dame Club of Lehigh Valley and has been involved in various service activites in the Catholic Diocese of Allentown for almost 40 years.
