TORONTO, ON, September 07, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Dan Andreae, Professor at the University of Guelph-Humber and Adjunct Associate Professor at Rension University College, University of Waterloo, has been selected as a Professional of the Year Member of the Covington Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Dr. Dan Andreae's commitment to excellence in Higher Education.

Dr. Dan Andreae is an award winning and distinguished Professor at both the University of Guelph Humber as well as an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Waterloo. He has amazingly taught more than 45 different subjects at university and college during his career, although his love is psychology. Born in Canada, Dr. Andreae holds a Doctorate in Education from the University of Toronto, a Masters in Clinical Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University, and a Bachelor's in Psychology from York University. Always striving to add to his extensive knowledge base he also possesses an advanced diploma in Stress Management and a Post Graduate Certificate in Neuropsychophysiology.

Dr. Andreae brings a wealth of experience to the classroom to share with students having served as the Executive Director of a health agency that established the National Eating Disorder Center at Toronto Hospital and as the first Executive Director of the Alzheimer Society in Toronto. In addition, he has been the longest serving President of the social work profession in Ontario and board member of organizations such as the Psychology Foundation of Canada and the Weizmann Institute of Science-Canadian division.

Believing it is vital to combine theory with life experience, it is the key to Dr. Andreae's philosophy that "education is most relevant and remembered when the head meets the heart". It is important to address the whole individual in education and to tap as well in to students' hopes, aspirations, and doubts and fears by creating a safe and supportive environment, thus planting the seeds for exploration, critical thinking, and growth.

A recipient of a Distinguished Teaching Award at the University of Waterloo, Dr. Andreae has also twice been selected as Faculty of the Year at the University of Guelph Humber in two different faculties and received the Faculty and Staff Mentor of the Year Award, which was chosen by graduating students.

Dr. Andreae believes that education, especially in our fast paced and globalized age, is a necessary life long process that must be nurtured in higher education. He says, "it is helping students view the complexities of life and issues from different perspectives and watching them connect the dots so to speak that brings great rewards to a career in education."
In 2014, Dr. Andreae was featured in the National Association of Distinguished Professional's Top 100 Industry Experts magazine and he will also be featured in the upcoming edition of Top 10 magazine.
