    LOS ANGELES, CA, October 22, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dorr Institute for Arthritis Research and Education Foundation Founder and Medical Director Lawrence D. Dorr, MD, has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in the medical field.

Dr. Dorr's areas of expertise include hip and knee replacements with minimally invasive surgical procedures. He also uses technologies such as computer-assisted surgery. Highly skilled in his profession, Dr. Dorr is licensed to practice in the states of California and Iowa.

In addition to his medical practice, Dr. Dorr founded a volunteer medical services organization called Operation Walk that offers free surgical treatment for patients in the United States and developing countries. Founded 20 years ago, the organization now includes 14 chapters in the United States, and 2 chapters in Canada. Dr. Dorr and his team also spend time training orthopedic surgeons, nurses, physical therapists and other health care workers in the countries they visit. In 2006, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons awarded him the Humanitarian of the Year Award.

Attributing his success to his hard work, Dr. Dorr also credits his passion for medicine and the opportunity to make a difference in other people's lives. He became involved in his profession after being inspired by his father, a minister and a visiting medical missionary to his father's church.

Dr. Dorr completed a fellowship in orthopedic surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery and a residency at the University of Southern California. He was recently inducted into Worldwide Registry and also maintains affiliations with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Hip Society, the Knee Society, and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, and he has been president of the latter three organizations.
