Transitional Kindergartners' First Classes are Trailblazing New Paths at Delphi Academy of Santa Monica

    SANTA MONICA, CA, October 30, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- True to the spirit of all Delphi Santa Monica classes, TK students are already hard at work learning, playing and growing. One of the first themes for the starting weeks was "All About Me & Family." This overarching theme for the kindergarten classes gave the students a framework to learn more about their families as well as the many different countries and cultures that Delphi students come from.

Delphi Academy of Santa Monica's Dean, Leslie Toth, says the kindergarten classes have already started making plans for Thanksgiving. While it may seem like a long ways away, there is a lot to do, she says! Classes will be heading out into the local community for service projects during this holiday season.

These projects will be paired with learning about Thanksgiving and its meaning in the classroom. The children will learn about the very first Thanksgiving and then do projects to help their families, friends, neighbors and the community at large. Delphi Santa Monica hopes to teach the children how much they truly have to be thankful for.

In the meantime, every hour of the school day is humming with excitement. Already the kindergarteners have been able to enjoy cooking muffins with locally grown pumpkins and have taken field trips to the library and a science museum!

In addition to improving at reading and writing, every child is also getting to draw and participate in music classes and storytelling sessions. Toth says every morning students are running into class because they can't wait to get started.
