SACRAMENTO, CA, January 07, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- TMS Health Solutions today announced that Dr. Robert Trimmer has joined the Sacramento-based practice. With more than ten years' experience, Dr. Trimmer will be responsible for treating patients using TMS therapy, medication management and psychotherapy.

"TMS Health Solutions is at the forefront of utilizing TMS therapy to treat patients with depression," said Dr. Trimmer. "I've come to recognize that medication treatment and psychotherapy are not always sufficient for some patients. It's exciting to work with a practice that working with FDA-approved TMS therapy is an effective treatment for many patients."

Dr. Trimmer graduated from Loma Linda University School of Medicine in 2001 and did his residency training at the University of California San Francisco-Fresno Psychiatry Residency Program. After working with the Fresno County Psychiatric Emergency Room, Inpatient Hospital, and Outpatient Clinic, Dr. Trimmer worked at Sutter Center for Psychiatry, a psychiatric inpatient hospital. He then spent the next eight years working for Community Psychiatry as an outpatient adult psychiatrist before joining TMS Health Solutions. Dr. Trimmer worked with Dr. Bermudes to utilize TMS therapy for his patients in 2013 and 2014.

"Having already had the pleasure of working with Dr. Trimmer multiple times, we're happy to welcome him to the team," said Dr. Richard Bermudes, medical director at TMS Health Solutions.

FDA-approved TMS therapy is a drug-free, non-invasive course of treatment administered in a physician's office. By using an MRI-strength magnetic field to stimulate the frontal cortex area of the brain, the core symptoms of major depression can be painlessly alleviated. Unlike anti-depressants or electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), patients undergoing TMS therapy experience minimal side effects. A typical treatment series includes four to six weeks of daily 45-minute sessions. Clinical studies have shown that TMS is effective in about 60 percent of patients, twice as effective as antidepressants.

Located in the Sacramento area, TMS Health Solutions centers provide TMS therapy, an alternative, drug-free, non-invasive treatment for patients with severe depression. TMS Health Solutions is led by Dr. Richard Bermudes and Dr. Karl Lanocha, two of the nation's leading experts on using TMS therapy as an innovative treatment for depression.
