Hastings & Hastings Shares New Information Regarding Arizona Game and Fish Department Regulations

Hastings & Hastings has noted the increasing passion regarding pets that has swept the nation. Dogs and cats nearly outnumber humans. Hastings & Hastings further notes that adorableness is not limited to dogs and cats alone.

PHOENIX, AZ, January 22, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Exotic pets can make equally great companions. The Arizona Game and Fish Department maintains a list of restricted wildlife. Animals on this list are not legal allowed to be kept as pets in Arizona.

Recently, the Arizona Game and Fish Department removed one small and inarguable adorable animal from its list of restricted wildlife. As of December 9th, 2015, hedgehogs are now legally allow to be kept as pets in Arizona.

Previously, the stance held by the Arizona Game and Fish Department was that hedgehogs would pose a threat to native wildlife species within Arizona. Following an extend period of research, Wildlife officials came to the conclusion that the sub-species of hedgehog that is commonly sold in exotic pet stores would not be capable of surviving on its own in the wild, therefor introducing them to Arizona would have little to no effect on the native wildlife.

The removal of hedgehogs for the list of restricted wildlife was met with much enthusiasm. It is expected that hedgehogs will be available in local pet stores early in 2016. Hedgehogs are noted for being low maintenance pets who typically enthusiastically express affection. Individuals who are interested in owning a hedgehog can expect the newly legal rodents to cost a few hundred dollars.

Hastings & Hastings notes, although hedgehogs are well known for their iconic quills, reports of individuals who have been injured by hedgehogs are extremely uncommon. Further questions regarding hedgehog legality should be directed to the Arizona Game and Fish Department.

"Hastings & Hastings is a personal injury law firm. Every year we see cases involving individuals who have been harmed by dog bites. I suspect instances of injury by hedgehog will be infrequent, but if they do occur, our phone lines are open. I don't think these cute little things are going to cause too many problems though. Who knows, I may even get one for myself! They sure are adorable," said David Hastings, the founder of Hastings & Hastings.
