Patrick Roberts Appointed to North Carolina State Ethics Commission

    RALEIGH, NC, February 13, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Roberts Law Group, PLLC is pleased to announce that Gov. Pat McCrory has appointed Raleigh criminal defense lawyer Patrick Roberts to the North Carolina State Ethics Commission.

Part of Mr. Roberts's role will be to assist in the investigation of complaints made against state lawmakers, state officials, judges, district attorneys, and other covered persons accused of ethics violations.

According to the Office of the Governor, the Commission's purpose is to establish ethical standards for certain public officials, state employees, and appointees to non-advisory state boards and commissions. The Commission is also charged with amending North Carolina law on lobbying.

- Four members are appointed by the Governor of North Carolina
- Four members are appointed by the North Carolina General Assembly
- The Commission meets in Raleigh on at least a quarterly basis

Among its duties are issuing formal advisory opinions and investigating complaints. This helps to ensure that public servants exercise their powers fairly - and the Commission plays an important role in furthering that purpose.
