McKendree University to Begin Offering Online Master of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice

New online program kicks off Summer 2016.



    LEBANON, IL, February 18, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- McKendree University is proud to announce their recent addition to their online programs. Beginning this summer, students can obtain their Master of Arts degree in Criminal Justice online through McKendree. During the fall semester, both options for online and on-campus courses for the Criminal Justice program will begin.

This new program is geared toward students who wish to further their careers in the field of criminal justice and students looking to further their education in criminal justice at the doctoral level. Students enrolling in this program can expect to be well-rounded in criminal justice and criminological theory, the nature of crime and crime patterns, the analysis of crime data, and ethical decision-making in the use of discretion and the design of policy.

Students are required to take core classes consisting of Advanced Studies in Criminal Justice, Criminological Theory, Research Methods and Concepts, and Statistical Analysis. In addition to these courses, students can select classes from a wide variety of electives including courses such as Issues in Policing, Terrorism and Homeland Security, Advanced Criminal Law, Corrections and Correctional Practices, and many others.

In total, the Master of Arts in Criminal Justice program can be completed in two years when taken full-time. Part-time students can expect to complete the program in three years.

Criminal justice is a growing field filled with abundant job opportunities. Those already working in the field have opportunities for advancement with a master's degree but need the flexibility of an online program in order to balance the demands of work with those of higher education. McKendree University chose to fulfill this need by providing this degree online for students looking to further their education while fulfilling their occupational and family duties.

Currently, McKendree University offers online degrees in business administration, nursing, education, and psychology. Their online BBA is offered with the option of six majors: accounting, business administration, human resource management, management, marketing, and sport management and are for anyone who wants to further their education and earn their bachelor's degree. The online MBA is available to students holding a baccalaureate degree from a regionally-accredited institution. McKendree's online MAED in Higher Education Administrative Services is designed for those seeking to accelerate their career path in higher education or those wanting to transition from another profession. Nursing degrees include an online RN to BSN degree, an online MSN, and an online MSN/MBA for those looking to advance their nursing careers with business knowledge. Finally, any student looking to further his or her education in psychology can also take advantage of McKendree's online program to obtain a BA in psychology.
