Conceived and painted by Atlanta artist Corey Barksdale, Urban Reflection embraces the lively culture of the city. This piece also serves as a reflection of the cutting-edge design the property is rolling out as a part of its reinvention.

An acrylic on canvas measuring 20 feet wide by 10 feet tall, Urban Reflection serves as an unexpected, yet energizing welcome to guests as they enter the lobby of the presently transforming Crowne Plaza Atlanta Midtown. Inspired by the vibrant music scene, contemporary architecture and diversity of Atlanta, Urban Reflection features gestural paint strokes and interweaving lines to create dramatic movement. A bold and vivid color palette is meant to uplift viewers, inviting them on a pleasant journey left up to interpretation.

A native of Nashville, Tenn., Corey is an Atlanta-based painter profoundly influenced by the abstract expressionism style with its fluid form and deconstructive quality. His artistic subject matter spans from human figures to abstract shapes and non-objects. Most recently, Corey has focused his talents on themes that express the strength and artistic legacy of the African American community.
