Musical Based on Greek Archaeological History Performed at the National Art Gallery and at the U. S. Capitol for Members of Congress including Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney

    WASHINGTON, DC, March 04, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Two musical fairytales based on real Greek archaeological sites and finds along with narration and songs of excerpts of Homer's Iliad, Odyssey and Sophocles' Antigone accompanied by original music played on an ancient reconstructed lyre were performed at the National Gallery of the Arts in Washington DC on February 24, 26 and 27, 2016. The musicals were presented in English by Dr. Evy Papadopoulou, archaeologist-writer of the archaeological fairytales and Dr. Nikos Xanthoulis, musician-composer.

On February 25, 2016, Dr. Evy Papadopoulou and Dr. Nikos Xanthoulis also performed at the U. S. Capitol for Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney, Congressman Ed Perlmutter, Loula Loi Alafoyiannis the Founder & President of EAWC, Daisy Gallagher the Chairwoman of Gallagher & Gallagher Worldwide, Inc., Artist Stamatia Trivoulides and others. Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney was extremely impressed with the performance and citing the importance of this cultural re-enactment invited them to return and perform in her District in the near future.

During the past years, the performers have presented a number of international events promoting Greek culture. The events enhance dialogue between scientists and artists from around the world who wish to revive the spirit and glory of ancient Greece.

The performers have created an alliance with the Euro American Women's Council (EAWC), which promotes bilateral cultural relations and pays tribute to individuals from the fields of business, politics, civil rights, medicine, sports, academia, science, arts and culture would set an example for others to follow and help pave the way for further collaborations between cultural organizations with deep interest in Greece's cultural heritage.
