Blake Grigsby, WheezyWaiter and Other Social Media Influencers Prove They Are a Valuable Resource for Marketing and Public Relations Departments

Companies like Everywhere Wireless are turning to social media celebrities to boost brand visibility and drive sales in fun and innovative ways.

We're not your average big telecom company like Comcast. We do things differently around here, remarked Quinn Murphy, the company's Associate Director of Marketing.

CHICAGO, IL, March 23, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Who do you follow on your various social media platforms? Perhaps your newsfeeds and YouTube subscriptions consist of fashion and beauty bloggers, or you start your day by scrolling through Instagram to see what your favorite movie stars and musicians are up to in their glamorous lives. Or maybe, just maybe, you are watching a video of some teenager or twenty-something doing a social experiment on the busy city streets of Chicago.

We all do it, and that's how these social media celebrities (often, just "normal" people with a gift for creating shareable, likeable content) gain hundreds of thousands of followers and subscribers.

It's also how they make a living.

More and more companies and brands are tapping into social media marketing, and are turning over the reins to well-established users to promote their products and services.

One example is Everywhere Wireless, a Chicago-based Internet Service Provider. On March 16th, 2016, a video with their branding was posted to Blake Grigsby's YouTube channel. The video, titled "Coffee Shop Eavesdrop," also features another YouTube star, WheezyWaiter, as the duo take over Floriole Cafe near DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois, to sing the conversations of unsuspecting cafe patrons.

Where does Everywhere Wireless come in? Take a closer look at the paintings behind Grigsby, and you'll spot their surreptitiously placed logo and a graffiti-style piece of their name. They even got Grigsby to include their logo on the "like and subscribe" ending of the video, as well as a thank-you and blurb about their company in the video description.

We're not your average big telecom company like Comcast. We do things differently around here, remarked Quinn Murphy, the company's Associate Director of Marketing.

With over one million subscribers and 150 million views between the two YouTubers, Grigsby and WheezyWaiter, the video has the potential to further impact the ISP's grab of market share from the big telecom companies in Chicago.

Everywhere Wireless owns and manages a Chicago-based Gigabit Internet Network, designed for multi-family communities and businesses, some of which include Cisco, CBS, Nike and Google. Everywhere Wireless partnered with the City of Chicago to deliver Wi-Fi to many of Chicago's beaches and parks including additions last summer at 31st Street and 57th Street. EW's network offers speeds of more than 1,000 megabits per second (Mbps), also known as Gigabit speeds.
