Women of Distinction Magazine Selects Debra S. Roettger as a Distinguished Professional in Her Field

    DYSART, IA, March 31, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Debra S. Roettger, Artist and Owner of The Blacksmith Boutique and Garden Studio, has been recognized as a Distinguished Professional in her field through Women of Distinction Magazine. Debra S. Roettger will be featured in Women of Distinction Magazine in 2016.

Nearly 10 years ago, Debra S. Roettger took a huge leap of faith and purchased a large piece of history in the quaint town of Dysart, Iowa. Known today as The Blacksmith Boutique and Garden Studio, the small retail space features one-of-a-kind metal garden art pieces that she custom makes herself, as well as a greenhouse filled with a variety of plants. Roettger, who purchased The Brick-a-Brack building in 2006, oversees every aspect of running her business as Owner, and is the only Artist. She has filled this incredible building with several positive gals that are blessed in what they do.

"My building gave me the courage become the person God meant for me to be," Roettger said with no regrets. "I have a saying in my office that says 'a successful person is a dreamer, whom somebody believed in', and I very much believe that. I am passionate about what I do and I find great happiness in watching people's expressions as they enter my studio."

Roettger has another saying outside of her building that states "And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud. was more painful than the risk it took to blossom". She loves this saying and relates it to herself.

Roettger's small town is filled with small boutique-like stores just like hers, each of them original, and she shares a sense of pride to own her very own stake in her community. As someone who has always enjoyed participating in community events and volunteering her time, she loves to give back by hosting several events to bring everyone together. An active member of the Dysart Business Builders, Dysart Historical Society, Roettger still holds her realtor's license today, a career that she maintained for 18 years prior to starting her own business. She worked in realty alongside her father and sister at Carl Luze Real Estate, which her grandfather started.

Thanks to her father, Dwayne Luze Roettger was exposed to welding as a young child. As the owner of his own welding shop, it was her dad who actually purchased her first welding machine, plasma cutter, and made her workbench. Today, her store is filled with welded garden sculptures made from old farm metal.

"My art is very unusual and everyone finds it very interesting, as I use the old farm metal and other pieces that are found from the farm or around our community," Roettger said. "It is fun for everyone to see what kind of artwork I will make from rusty old pieces of metal I found or metal that the farmers have brought to me."

Roettger holds a Bachelor's in Public Relations and is a Licensed Realtor. Her husband owns his own farm, where much of her free time is spent. She has two grown sons and two daughters-in-law that she is extremely proud of, a daughter that is just going to graduate, start college, and is ready to fly the nest, and an amazing step-son that is in college. Roettger has also been blessed with five incredible little people (grandchildren) that she adores.
