WASHINGTON, DC, April 25, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The fundraiser is part of a series of national events presented by FlyGirls, a ten-part miniseries about the female aviators of WWII. Often left out of the WWII narrative, this unprecedented dramatic miniseries in development by Oscar-nominated Director Matia Karrell and The Red Door Films will shed light on this important chapter of selfless U.S. military service and aviation history.

Karrell has been researching the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) for over 20 years. "In 2009, 300 of the 1,074 WASP who served were alive to receive the Congressional Medal of Honor from President Obama. Today fewer than half of these women are alive. FlyGirls is presenting this series of events to raise awareness about the WASP and our upcoming miniseries, so that the WASP who remain with us know they will not be forgotten."

OneHope Wines, Women in AFCEA and ACEDS, a Barbri Professional Association, are among the participating sponsors as of the date of this release. Women in Homeland Security and OneHope Wines have been instrumental in organizing this event. Says Kristina Tanasichuk, the Founder and President of Women in Homeland Security: "Women in Homeland Security is proud to support and remember the significant contribution of the FlyGirls and we are very excited to participate in this creative project to keep their work in the hearts and imaginations of our next generation."
