Dr. Frank Kline Honored by Marquis Who's Who for Excellence in Psychiatry

Dr. Kline recently retired after more than six decades in the field

Dr. Kline recently retired after more than six decades in the field of psychiatry. In his most recent roles prior to retirement, he served as an attending staff member at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and an attending physician at LAC+USC Medical Center. He is a professor emeritus of the University of Southern California (USC) and a past employee of the University of Southern California Medical Center. Dr. Kline also worked as a consultant and regional chief of the West Central Mental Service for the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health. He held clinical teaching roles at the King Drew Magnet High School of Medicine and Science, as well as the University of California, Irvine.

Driven by his passion for medicine, Dr. Kline earned a Bachelor of Science and an MD from the University of Maryland. He completed an internship at Cincinnati General Hospital and a residency at Brentwood VA Medical Center. In between these posts, Dr. Kline served as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army Medical Corps for two years. He later attended the Southern California Psychoanalytic Institute, from which he received a Ph.D. in 1977. Following this, he served as chief of psychiatry for the VA Long Beach Health Center from 1977 to 1991.

Dr. Kline is a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and has served as an examiner for the organization since 1970. He has acted as a reviewer of medical publications and was editor of "A Handbook of Group Psychotherapy," published in 1983. His accomplishments were taken into consideration when he was featured in the 1st through 8th editions of Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, the 10th through 12th editions of Who's Who in Science and Engineering, the 52nd through 70th editions of Who's Who in America, the 23rd through 33rd editions of Who's Who in the World, and several editions of Who's Who in the West.
