Nancy Eaton Recognized by Marquis Who's Who for Excellence in Higher Education

An expert in educational administration, Ms. Eaton worked as an educator, librarian and dean for more than five decades

    STATE COLLEGE, PA, July 01, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Nancy Eaton has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Now retired, Ms. Eaton celebrates a career that spanned nearly five decades. Concluding her tenure as the dean of Pennsylvania State University Libraries, she demonstrated an expertise in all aspects of educational administration and library sciences. Notably, Ms. Eaton served as the board director of the Center for Research Libraries and an executive committee member and chair of the Online Computer Library Center. Her successes are a testament to her passion for the English language and her interest in sharing her knowledge with younger generations of professionals. In recognition of her professional excellence, she was honored by the U.S. Office of Education as a post-master's fellow, and she was the recipient of a number of grants, including a Title II-C grant, a Title II-D grant and a Mellon Foundation grant. Ms. Eaton was also selected for inclusion in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in American Libraries, Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of American Women.

Ms. Eaton's contributions to the field of education are documented in books and articles. She co-authored "Optical Information Systems: Implementation Issues for Libraries," in 1988, co-edited "A Cataloging Sampler," in 1971 and co-edited "Book Selection Policies in American Libraries" in 1972. Additionally, she was nationally recognized regularly for her contributions to professional journals. Ms. Eaton admits that her work in education was a natural progression of opportunities. In her career, she rose through the ranks from cataloger to assistant to director at the University of Texas Library and went on to achieve esteemed roles as automation librarian at the State University of New York, Stony Brook, director of library services at the University of Vermont and dean of library services at Iowa State University. Still an active member of educational organizations including the American Library Association and the Library and Information Technology Association, Ms. Eaton intends to mentor young librarians and serve on professional boards in the years ahead.
