EY Announces Leadership Promotions in San Francisco

Twelve new partners, principals, executive directors and directors named

Dutra noted that promotions to the partner, principal, executive director and director ranks involve a rigorous selection process that recognizes each person's achievements and potential. The promoted professionals exemplify the EY commitment to a dual global/local focus, a diverse and inclusive workplace, growing a purpose-driven organization and building a better working world.

Nick Boaro was promoted to partner from senior manager. Boaro's career with the firm began in 2002 in New York. He currently leads the West Region Working Capital Improvement Practice, part of Ernst & Young LLP's Transaction Advisory Services. Serving both large corporate and private equity clients across multiple industries, Boaro has delivered over $3 billion in cash improvements to clients to date. Prior to joining EY in San Francisco, Boaro also worked in the firm's Boston office and in the Sydney, Australia office of the EY member firm in Australia. He attended Hofstra University, where he earned a BBA in Accounting. Boaro is a Certified Public Accountant licensed to practice in New York and a member of The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Chris Canoles was promoted to partner from senior manager. Canoles started his Assurance career with the firm in 2002 as an intern in the San Francisco office. He has extensive experience serving technology clients in the internet and SaaS subsectors, including both large multinational Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) registrants and smaller venture-backed start-ups. Canoles received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. He is a Certified Public Accountant licensed to practice in California and a member of The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Rahul R. Chandarana was promoted to partner from senior manager. Chandarana is the Transactions Leader in the West Market Segment of Ernst & Young LLP's Financial Services Organization and has extensive financial services experience in banking, FinTech, capital markets, asset management and specialty finance companies. Part of the firm's Transaction Advisory Services practice since 2007, his clients include investment banks, commercial banks, mortgage banks, broker-dealers, national exchanges, asset and fund managers. Chandarana has a MBA from Columbia Business School, Columbia University. He is a Certified Public Accountant in California, New York and Colorado and a member of The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Anne Duffy was promoted to partner from senior manager. Duffy has been a member of the firm's West Region Indirect Tax practice for six years. Duffy has represented clients with various state and local tax issues, including state sales and use tax controversy, taxability determinations, reverse audits, nexus reviews, apportionment analyses, and voluntary disclosure requests. She serves clients in the healthcare, technology, retail, entertainment, and manufacturing sectors. Duffy holds a B.B.A. in Accountancy and Spanish from the University of Notre Dame and a J.D. from the University of San Francisco. She is a Certified Public Accountant licensed to practice in California, a member of the State Bar of California, and a member of The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Joe Marini was promoted to partner from senior manager. Marini began his career with the firm in 2006 and has spent the last 10 years in the Ernst & Young LLP's Transaction Advisory Services practice, serving private equity and technology companies in the San Francisco Bay Area. Previously, he worked at several technology start-ups in Silicon Valley and in another Big Four Accounting firm's assurance practice. Marini received his Bachelor of Arts in Business Management Economics from the University of California, Santa Cruz and a Master of Science in Accounting from San Jose State University. He is a Certified Public Accountant licensed to practice in California, and a member of The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Michael Matlock was promoted to partner from senior manager in the firm's Bay Area assurance practice. Matlock began his EY career in 2003 as an intern in Ernst & Young LLP's Denver office. Upon promotion to manager, he was seconded to the Melbourne office of the EY member firm in Australia for three years. Matlock spent a year in the U.S. firm's LA office in 2010 working with film, music, and television production companies before relocating to San Francisco, where he has built deep experience advising emerging and established companies across the SaaS and broader technology industry. Matlock serves as a proud member and advisor to the EY UNITY network, supporting LGBTA colleagues across the Bay Area. Matlock received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Southern California, is a Certified Public Accountant licensed to practice in California and Colorado, and is a member of The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Sanjay Khunti was promoted to principal from senior manager. Khunti joined EY 11 years ago as part of Ernst & Young LLP's Advisory technology and security risk services practice in San Jose, and focuses on Bay Area clients in the Consumer Products & Retail, Life Sciences and Technology sectors. Before that, Khunti was a web developer at a global technology company in Silicon Valley. Born near London, England, Khunti grew up in Central California. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Management & Organizational Development from Fresno Pacific University and is a member of ISACA and IIA.

Debbie Landres was promoted to principal from senior manager. A member of Ernst & Young LLP's Advisory practice, Landres' career with the firm began in 2006, in the firm's New York Financial Services Organization. She transferred to the firm's San Francisco practice in 2010. Landres co-leads the Financial Services Risk Management practice for the West market segment and manages the Enterprise Risk and Controls competency team. She focuses on enterprise risk, operational risk, and cross-functional regulatory change management for clients in banking and financial services. Landres attended the University of Pennsylvania, where she received her Bachelor of Arts & Sciences in International Relations, and Columbia University where she earned her Master of Arts in International Finance Policy. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Homeless Prenatal Program.

David Piontek was promoted to principal from executive director. Piontek joined EY in 2012, and leads the data and analytics Advisory practice for Ernst & Young LLP's Financial Services Organization in the West Region. Piontek serves financial services firms with a specific emphasis on advanced analytics, data management, and data strategy. His clients include asset managers, consumer and commercial banks, and capital markets firms. He has 25 years of experience in enterprise information management solutions, leading consulting practices, and delivering engagements that span strategy to large complex data transformations. Piontek attended the University of South Florida where he received his Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems.

Steve Mitchell was promoted to director from associate director. Mitchell is a Business Development Executive who is responsible for understanding the firm's clients' businesses and challenges, while keeping pace with industry trends regarding competition, growth, market opportunities, innovation, process and business performance. Prior to joining EY, Mitchell was a Business Unit Executive responsible for the development of IBM's eBusiness Hosting group and was Vice President of Sales at Ingram Micro. Mitchell is an advisor to the Cancer Support Community organization, advisory board member of Eyefluence, teaches Global Economics for Junior Achievement and is an active volunteer with the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship.

Bryan M. Parsons was promoted to director from associate director. With more than 15 years of financial, operations, strategy, and people management experience, Parsons is Director of Major Accounts in the firm's Global Risk Management function, where he supports teams serving the firm's largest global clients to respond to dynamic market and regulatory demands quickly. A regular facilitator for people with diverse perspectives and backgrounds, Parsons' career began in the firm's Boston audit practice where he served financial services clients. He then spent six years in New York before moving to San Francisco in 2012. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from Bentley University. Parsons is a member of The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Human Rights Campaign.

Kelly Stratman was promoted to director from associate director. Stratman manages the EY Americas Advisory portfolio of alliances and has extensive experience defining and executing alliance partner channel strategy in the areas of sales support, joint service development, alliance formation and relationship management. Her entire career has focused on how companies can form highly functioning relationships to grow revenue and deliver greater value to clients. Prior to joining EY, Stratman spent years in consulting delivering ERP implementations, and then managed alliance portfolio five years in the Analytics and CRM functions at a large, global consulting firm. Stratman earned her Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the University of Washington.
