MASSAPEQUA PARK, NY, September 01, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Herbert Deutsch has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Globally recognized for his work as a composer, educator and inventor, Mr. Deutsch has met with a great deal of success over the course of his career. Perhaps his most notable achievement was co-inventing the Moog Synthesizer with Bob Moog in 1964, thus pioneering the commercial manufacture of modular voltage-controlled analog synthesizer systems. The invention was designed as a new instrument used to aid composers in creating new musical pieces. Considered a synthesizer that "changed music," it is now utilized around the world in various improved systems, including scaled-down, simplified, self-contained musical instruments designed for use in live performance. Today, the prototype of the Moog Synthesizer can be viewed on display at The Henry Ford Museum.

Mr. Deutsch's career has also been defined by his work as an educator. First a teacher at the secondary level, he taught at the East Meadows schools and St. Agnes High School in Rockville Centre, NY., in the early 1970s. Thereafter, he moved to higher education and spent more than five decades as a professor of music at Hofstra University, while occasionally taking on visiting professor roles at New York University. Simultaneously, he established the Long Island Composers Alliance in 1972. Considered one of the oldest and most active composer collectives in the U.S., its primary mission is to represent the Long Island community of composers and present their work as an active force for enriching the creative landscape of the area. In the organization's lifetime, it has presented more than 300 concerts featuring an excess of 1,500 new compositions arranged by over 100 Long Island-based composers. Mr. Deutsch continually innovates new programs for the organization, while collaborating with NYSSMA, the New York State School Music Association.

In recognition of professional excellence, Mr. Deutsch was named to the Long Island Music Hall of Fame and achieved a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Moog Music Company. Hofstra University honored Mr. Deutsch in 2001 by naming him to one of its newest awards: the Herbert A. Deutsch Award for Highest Music Education. Aside from an evident passion for music and composition, Mr. Deutsch feels he has been successful due to his own educational foundation. He earned a Bachelor of Science in education from Hofstra University and a Master of Music from the Manhattan School of Music. Further, he continued his education by taking postgraduate courses at New York University. An active member of the American Association of University Professors, the American Society of Composers and the Music and Entertainment Industry Education Association, Mr. Deutsch intends to continue composing and enriching the musical lives of others in the years to come.
