African Voices Announces National Search for Board Members

Literary Magazine Launches First Digital Issue

    NEW YORK, NY, October 07, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- African Voices Communications, Inc., an independent media company, is announcing a national search for new board members and released the magazine's first digital issue this week. Readers can download African Voices' Summer 2016. Artist Leroy Campbell's "I Am Strong" graces the front cover.

Established in 1992, African Voices will celebrate 25 years of publishing a national literary magazine in 2017. AV has showcased more than 900 artists of color. African Voices has been recognized for offering innovative community programs in art, literature and film including Get Your Read On! (GYRO!), an arts training initiative that focuses on literacy; and the Reel Sisters of the Diaspora Film Festival & Lecture Series, a festival devoted to providing opportunities for women of color in the film industry.

African Voices kicked off a new chapter in the company's history by unveiling a new logo designed by Odion Tobi, a 20-year-old artist from Lagos, Nigeria. The digital issue, the first edition bearing the new logo, is being distributed to AV's 25,000+ social media network. AV Digital is positioned to become a global destination for fine art, literature and film.

BOARD MEMBER SEARCH

New Board members will have a unique opportunity to shape the company's future as a top online media company and strengthen its community programs. African Voices receives support from city, state and federal funding sources. The company seeks new board members with an entrepreneurial spirit to build on the organization's successful foundation.

The Board Search is being conducted by a team of Taproot Foundation professionals who will recruit and help select new board members. Potential candidates must be willing to invest time in developing the organization's resources. New Board members must have a passionate love for the arts and strong background in business development and finance. Board members with previous experience in serving on a non-profit board are encouraged to apply.
