BISMARCK, ND, October 10, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dalonnes Kay Roemmich, Retired Music Teacher, has been recognized as a Distinguished Professional in her field through Women of Distinction Magazine. Dalonnes Kay Roemmich was recently featured in a 2014 edition of Women of Distinction Magazine.

Dedicating her entire career to the field of education, Dalonnes Kay Roemmich first attended Dickinson State University, earning her BS in Music Composite in 1972, followed by her MS in Music at the University of Grand Forks. Entering into the North Dakota's public school system, she went on to spend the next 40 years teaching vocal, instrumental, and general music to grades kindergarten through 12. During her career, she wrote an article for the North Dakota Music Journal and attended and presented at the conferences, including at the North Dakota Music Education National Conference Convention where she not only presented but her students were asked to perform. Very active professionally, she was affiliated with numerous organizations pertaining to her field, including having served as member of the Sykeston, Hazen, Carrington, and Bottineau's Eduation Assocation, as well as the National Educators Association, North Dakota Educators Association, Society of General Music, American Choral Directors Association, and North Dakota Music Educators Association where she received the 15 and the 25-year Career Achievement Award.

"Music is something that can develop lifelong skills, like hard work and determination. I have found, throughout my years of teaching, that most music students are usually your top students," Roemmich said. "As a music teacher, I spent many long days, nights, and weekends preparing for the days and weeks ahead; it takes a lot of time and energy to do the job properly. But my efforts never went unnoticed and I enjoyed a very long and rewarding career as a result. I truly loved my job, those I worked with, and more than anything, my students."

During Roemmich's teaching career she was awarded for her successes, including having earned a National Registered Music Teacher Award, National Certified Music Teacher Award, and Golden Apple Award. She and her group also received several Outstanding Performance Awards and was the recipient of a Mark of Excellence National Choral Honors as a State Level North Dakota Winner. In 2014-15, her choir group was chosen as the North Dakota Governor's Choir.

Roemmich was a Piano Accompanist for quite some time, having played for the Bottineau Women's Communtiy Choir, the Bethel Chapel, Grace Lutheran Brethren Church, and Century Baptist Church. She also played clarinet for the North Dakota Centennial Band.

Retiring from the classroom in 2012, Roemmich is still very much active in her field today as a member of North Dakota Retired Teachers Association and Bismarck-Mandan Retired Teachers Association.
