IMMOKALEE, FL, October 17, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Valarie Bostic, Early Childhood Education and Management Executive Director for Immokalee Child Care Center, has been recognized as a Distinguished Professional in her field through Women of Distinction Magazine. Valarie Bostic was recently featured in the February 2016 edition of the Women of Distinction Magazine and will soon be featured in an upcoming edition of Top Educators.

Serving as Executive Director at Immokalee Child Care Center, a non-profit eary childhood agency, since 1998, Valarie Bostic follows in their mission to serve the Immokalee community by providing exceptional education programs and the highest quality childcare. Since that time, Bostic has made great strides, one of which includes the formation of a program in 2013 that creates a foundation for students via a curriculum that includes Science, Technology, Arts, Reading, Together, aka START, which also serves as a model program designed for cross-curricular education and development of innovative thinking. Over the past three years, the program has been highly successful and the Department of Education scores have increased for their Volunteer Pre-K program by 25%. Due to it's success, Bostic has since incorporated FIT START and START RIGHT, a comprehensive parent education and support program. The newest component of the program started just this fall, called START-Ed, a professional development program for continuing education for teachers.

"The Immokalee Child Care Center has been in existence since 1964," Bostic said. "Beginning as an old, migrant washhouse, it's since evolved into a state-of-the-art facility that is now nationally accredited. Our goals today include keeping early childhood affordable while still maintaining a quality program. In my role as Director, I'm responsible for ultimately every aspect of the school, and for me, it's not about the awards, but the rewards, and the difference we make in the lives of these children."

Bostic began her career in education in 1985 with the United States Department of Defense Youth Services Division in Wurzburg, Germany. After relocating back to the US, she planted her roots in Fort Myers, Florida as an After School Program Director before later switching gears to work for the Redlands Christian Migrant Association in Immokalee, Florida as their Early Childhood Specialist. She later moved on to become the Executive Director of the Immokalee Child Care Center, the longest operation early childhood education center in the community, where she has been for the past 19 years. She holds a German from the State University College of New York at Oswego.
