Marjorie A.W. Walters Honored for Civic & Career Contributions

A creative spirit with a sharp eye and immense talent, Marjorie A.W. Walters has enjoyed a lengthy and prosperous career as an interior designer and consultant. With more than five decades in business for herself and several roles with arts-related organizations, Ms. Walters is deeply involved in the local arts community of Richfield Springs, N.Y. Having relocated her business from its original home in Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J., where it was established in 1958, she has been providing clients in and around Richfield Springs with custom design services that suit their personal tastes.

Ms. Walters received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the College of William & Mary in 1947, followed by an Associate of Arts from the New York School of Interior Design 11 years later. In addition to running her own firm, she has served as chairman of the Richfield Springs Baker's Beach Art & Programs Commission and as executive director of the Cooperstown New York Art Association from 1986 to 1990.

Ever the dedicated civic servant, Ms. Walters is also vice president of the Richfield Springs Library Board and secretary of the town of Richfield Springs' zoning board of appeals. She has received a Community Service Award from the town of Richfield, a Good Citizenship Award from the Daughters of the American Revolution, an Outstanding Achievement Award from the Richfield Springs Mayor and Board of Trustees in 2006.

Her memberships include the Richfield Springs Historical Association, the National Museum Women in Arts, the Institute of International Visual Artists, and the Lake and Valley Garden Club, of which she was president from 1998 to 2000. Ms. Walters has been published in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World, and Who's Who of American Women.
