Gary Jay Kushner Recognized by Marquis Who's Who for Achievements in Law

Gary Jay Kushner has represented the food industry for more than 40 years



He is the author of "The Food Safety Modernization Act: A Comprehensive, Practical Guide to the Landmark Legislation."

    WASHINGTON, DC, October 14, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Gary Jay Kushner has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

For the past four decades, Mr. Kushner has dedicated his career to representing clients in the food industry. His law career began in 1975, when he earned a JD from Georgetown University Law Center and started working as a law clerk to Hon. John R. Hess in Superior Court. Mr. Kushner then joined Grocery Manufacturers of America as staff counsel, and then Leighton, Conklin & Lemov as an associate. In 1980, he departed to become an associate at Collier, Shannon, Rill & Scott, where he stayed for two years before taking on the role of general counsel for the American Meat Institute. Mr. Kushner returned to Collier, Shannon, Rill & Scott as partner in 1985, but in 1989 joined Hogan Lovells US LLP, where he remains today.

Throughout his career, Mr. Kushner has been very involved in his community. He has served as an adjunct fellow at the University Maryland Center for Food and Nutrition Policy and is a member of the governing board of the Jewish National Fund. He is also affiliated with the National Commission of the Anti-Defamation League and served as regulatory counsel to the Second Harvest National Network Food Banks. Further, Mr. Kushner served as a member of the advisory board of the U.S. Department of Agriculture Graduate School from 1989 to 2000, and as a member of the board of directors of Advocates for Better Children's Diets from 1994 to 2000.

All of these experiences led Mr. Kushner to write a number of professional pieces, including "The Food Safety Modernization Act: A Comprehensive, Practical Guide to the Landmark Legislation," published in January 2012 by The Food and Drug Law Institute. He also co-authored "Guide to Federal Food Labeling Requirements" in 1990, and "Summary of Law on Warranties and Disclaimers in the Sale of Seed," in 1996, and "Global Food Legislation" published by Zurich University in 2014.

Mr. Kushner's accomplishments have not gone unnoticed. He was featured in every edition of Who's Who in American Law published between 2005 and 2015, and 11 editions of Who's Who in America published between 2000 and 2014. Additionally, Mr. Kushner was honored with inclusion in numerous volumes of Who's Who in the East and Who's Who in the World.
