Dementia & Wandering: Canadian Company Launches Leasing Program for GPS Personal Location Device

SafeTracks provides an affordable alternative to low-income seniors

Worldwide, 47.5 million people have dementia. 3/5 of those with Alzheimer's or another form of dementia will wander. If not found within 24 hours, up to 50% will suffer serious injury or worse, die.

RED DEER, AB, October 19, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- SafeTracks GPS Canada Inc. (SafeTracks) announces the launch of their TRiLOC(TM) Leasing Program. Caregivers and Family Members can now lease the TRiLOC GPS Personal Locator watch for less than $2.50/day, providing an affordable alternative to low income seniors. The TRiLOC GPS watch is designed for people living with Dementia and other Cognitive Disabilities who are at risk for Wandering. The predominate feature of the TRiLOC is the integrated 2G/3G/4G Cellular and GPS technologies, making it completely independent of landlines, cell phones, and low-tech tracking equipment. The wrist-worn device does not confine a person to their home but rather provides them with independence to move about their communities.

SafeTracks, in conjunction with the Alberta Health Services, and the University of Alberta, was involved in a study regarding the usability of Personal GPS Location Devices for people prone to wander. Results demonstrated that the vast majority of seniors living with a cognitive disability are on a limited income and may not afford the outright purchase of the TRiLOC. With this program, an individual can now Lease a TRiLOC for a fraction of the purchase price.

Notable features of the TRiLOC include GPS (Global Positioning System), SOS Panic Button, 2-Way Voice, Fall Detection, Electronic Geo-Fence, Lockable Clasp, Bluetooth compatibility and Emergency 1 Minute Location Updates. Caregivers receive notifications via SMS Text Message and/or Email through the SafeTracks secure online platform. Smartphone Apps are available free of charge for both Apple and Android devices.

Vince Morelli, President & CEO, started SafeTracks nine years ago and is extremely passionate about keeping our communities safe. He is implementing the recommendations collected from people living with Dementia, Seniors, Caregivers, Family Members, Law Enforcement and Major Stakeholders to offer the most advanced Personal Location Devices available on the market.

The TRiLOC has a proven track record in providing a layer of Security, Independence and Peace of Mind as stated below by a current SafeTracks customer and Caregiver:
"The SafeTracks GPS watch played a very important role in my Father's care. It allowed him added freedom while he was experiencing early and middle stages of dementia. The TRiLOC was easy to set up the alerts were reliable and helped us locate our Father with impressive accuracy. It gave us peace of mind during a very challenging time. This watch provides added security and freedom to people of all ages that may tend to wander. Knowing that they can't be lost is a gift of comfort that is priceless..."
