Janet Wilder Recognized by Marquis Who's Who for Excellence in Dance Education

Ms. Wilder has spent 50 years working for dance companies across the country



Ms. Wilder has authored several publications, including "Terms Every Dancer Should Know," and "The Toy Shelf," and has choreographed more than 150 ballets, operas and musicals.

    MEDICAL LAKE, WA, October 21, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Janet Wilder has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. A natural performer who has dedicated her career to entertaining and educating others, Ms. Wilder celebrates a tenure in dance which has spanned 50 years. Concluding her career as the owner and director of the Academy of Dance in Spokane Valley and performing company executive for Ballet Spokane, she has worked for many studios and dance companies across the country. She began her career teaching dance and physical education at Santa Venetia Middle School in CA, moved to Ghedi, Italy and continued as a fitness and dance instructor for the American Wives' Club. After returning to the United States, she went on to found and direct Dance Theatre Northwest, co-found and co-direct Theatre Ballet of Spokane and did the choreography for and occasional corps performances with Spokane-Coeur d'Alene Opera. Over the course of her career she was on the faculty of the Julie Ward School of dance in Rapid City, SD, the Entenman School of dance in Bellvue, NE, Capitol City Ballet, Sacramento Ballet, and the Marguerite Phares School of Dance in Sacramento, CA. She was a member of the Omaha Ballet in NE, artistic director of Ballet Arts School and San Antonio Dance Theatre in TX, and co-owner/co-director of Ballet Arts in Spokane, WA. In recognition of her professional excellence and community service, Ms. Wilder was the recipient of the Outstanding Member Award from the Gehdi and Ellsworth Air Force Wives' Clubs, awards from the Dance Excellence International Festival for Young Dancers, the Jim Chase Award and honorable mention in the Teen Group Community Service and Adult Asset Builder categories. More recently, she was selected for inclusion in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of American Women.

To remain at the top of her field, Ms. Wilder was a member of the National Dance Education Organization, the National Dance Association, MusicFest Northwest and the Inland Northwest Dance Association, for which she served as vice president from 2002 to 2004. Her career-related endeavors outside of instruction have included roles as a member of the entertainment committee of Diamonds & Divas, member of the committee of First Night Spokane, and member of the ballet advisory board of the Greater Spokane Music & Allied Arts Festival. Ms. Wilder has authored several publications, including "Terms Every Dancer Should Know," and "The Toy Shelf," and has choreographed more than 150 ballets, operas and musicals.

Ms. Wilder was certified to teach by the Cecchetti Council of America, the Chicago National Dance Masters Association and the state of CA. Looking to the future, she intends to enjoy her retirement while taking on select consulting projects in the state of Washington.
