First Ever Maritime Job Fair Set for Pacific Marine Expo on Nov. 19th

Pacific Marine Expo, the West Coast's largest and longest running commercial fishing and marine tradeshow, will host a free Maritime Job Fair on Nov. 19. Over 40 companies, government agencies and nonprofit organizations are expected to participate.

    SEATTLE, WA, November 02, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- If you are looking for a great job in an industry that pays more than $20,000 above the average wage in Washington, the all new Maritime Job Fair at the Pacific Marine Expo a is the place to be.

Located in the East Hall of the CenturyLink Field and Event Center from 10 a.m. to Noon on Saturday, Nov. 19, the free Job Fair is expected to attract 40+ companies, government agencies and nonprofit organizations. This is the first ever Job Fair to be held at the Pacific Marine Expo.

"With the commercial fishing and marine industry thriving in the Pacific Northwest, there is no better place to connect with employers who are looking to hire," said Denielle Christensen, Expo director. Free registration for job seekers includes the Job Fair, access to the Pacific Marine Expo Exhibit Hall, and any special events taking place on the Expo floor, which is open until 2 p.m. on Saturday. There is also no cost for companies to participate in the Job Fair.

A 2012 study reported that the average annual salary before benefits for maritime industry employees is $70,800 - more than $20,000 above the average wage in Washington. Overall, the Washington State maritime industry generated $30 billion in revenue and was responsible for more than 148,000 jobs.

Pacific Marine Expo, which will run from Thursday, Nov. 17, through Saturday, Nov. 19, is the largest and longest running commercial fishing and marine tradeshow on the West Coast. The 49th annual Expo serves all aspects of the market, including commercial vessel owners and operators, commercial fishermen, boat builders and seafood processors. Last year's Expo attracted more than 500 exhibitors and over 8,500 visitors from 40 states and 24 countries.

The 2016 Expo will also provide free educational sessions, a Safety 101 program, the King County Maritime Economic Forecast Breakfast, a special Fishermen's Lounge and a variety of other special events, including the Fisherman of the Year contest, sponsored by National Fisherman.
