Hub of Horrors, New Horror Content Aggregate Site, Online Now

Horror writers create content-aggregate site for like-minded horror bloggers

GLOVERSVILLE, NY, November 06, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Horror writers Michael Tatlock ( http://www.mindoftatlock.com ) and Ryne Barber ( http://www.themoonisadeadworld.net ) have teamed up for a content-sharing site called Hub of Horrors, similar to Reddit and the now-defunct Horrorblips where writers, bloggers, and fans can congregate to support their favorite genre while promoting their own work.

The idea spawned from Reddit's horror subcommunity, which focuses more on the discussion side of horror and discourages self-promotion. Tatlock and Barber wanted to create a community that encouraged post promotion and engagement, a place where like-minded writers could come together as a hive mind. So far, the project has been a success in its short lifetime.

"As an administrator and user, I've been able to keep track of sites much better with this method than with RSS feeds or Facebook," Barber said. "I've been following some of these writers on Facebook for years and I've never seen one of their posts, because the algorithm just doesn't cater to small pages."

Tatlock commented, "Hub of Horrors has introduced me to several wonderful horror websites I wouldn't have known otherwise."

Besides the prevalence of self-promotion, Hub of Horrors also differs from Reddit in that it promotes a more positive culture. Posts can only be upvoted, preventing any users from receiving a negative score. This encouraging environment, Tatlock and Barber hope, will bolster new and existing writers to continue creating quality content instead of becoming discouraged by negativity.

Hub of Horrors has been in open beta for only a month, but so far users are actively participating in this growing community. A forum for regular film discussion unrelated to posts is a new addition to the site. A Secret Santa event has even been created, encouraging users to foster personal connections for the upcoming holiday season. Upcoming events such as group roundtable posts, site-wide list articles, and giveaways are also in the works.

Tatlock and Barber hope writers and horror fans with all different ranges of experience will take part in Hub of Horrors . "Anyone looking to write or talk about horror is welcome," Barber said. "We want this to be a tight-knit community of horror fans, and we can't wait to see the writing people generate."
