About Elizabeth Willoughby:
Elizabeth Willoughby has been professionally writing about travel, food and wine since the 1990s. She maintains home bases in North and South America and Europe, and uses WriteShots.com to showcase her photography and articles. Ms. Willoughby traverses the globe, finding inspiration for stories and photos for a variety of travel websites and blogs. When she lived in Brazil, she wrote two regular columns for the country's only bilingual newspaper, "Sunday News." For many years she was also the travel editor for WorldGuide.eu, and is now on the board of directors for the International Food, Wine & Travel Writers Association.

Initially, Ms. Willoughby fell into this career path when she moved to Brazil with her partner. As a foreigner, there were few things she could do for work, so she decided to put her English language skills to use and write for a Sao Paulo newspaper. She wrote two columns, one about travel, and another that offered a humorous spin on the culture clash she was experiencing as a Canadian woman in Brazil. Years later, when she moved to Germany she continued writing, branching out to also writing profiles about interesting people she'd met during her travels, and for insightLMU, Munich university's quarterly e-zine. Over a decade later, she moved to Ireland and decided to continue with travel writing, her first project on creating an Ireland Road Trips book for foodies and connoisseurs of whiskey, gin and beer, including cultural highlights along the way.

Through her many years of traveling and writing about her experiences, Ms. Willoughby has found her greatest strengths to be her patience, tenacity and honesty. She never lets fluffy jargon get in the way of the truth of her stories, but she also knows how to use humor where permitted. Looking to the future, although her husband will eventually retire from the corporate life, she can't see her life without journalism. She plans to stay busy and relevant in that realm.

Outside of her food and travel writing and photography, Ms. Willoughby also writes for LookToTheStars.org, the top news and information blog that focuses on celebrities and what charity, advocacy and philanthropy they participate in. Outside of her career work, she enjoys sailing, scuba diving, stained glass work, pottery, woodworking and gardening.
