E. Eugene "Gene" Triplett Publishes First Novel, "Wheel Man"

"Wheel Man" is set in 1990 Oklahoma and follows the account of Ringer, an ex-con who is talked into serving as the getaway driver for a small town bank job.

    OKLAHOMA CITY, OK, December 15, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- E. Eugene Triplett has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Gene Triplett's new novel "Wheel Man" (which can be purchased through amazon.com and Barnes & Noble) is set in 1990 Oklahoma and follows the account of Ringer, an ex-con who is talked into serving as the getaway driver for a small town bank job. But, when Ringer is double-crossed by his partner who skips town with the money as well as Ringer's wife, Ringer sets out to seek revenge.

Gene Triplett began his professional journey as a newspaper writer, journalist, movie critic, and music critic after earning a Bachelor of Arts in journalism from Oklahoma's Central State University in 1975. Upon graduation, he worked as a reporter and columnist for The Oklahoma Journal from 1976 to 1980, covering hard news while also serving as the newspaper's rock critic. Next came a four-year stint with The Daily Oklahoman as an entertainment editor, where Mr. Triplett covered all areas of popular music, movies, and fine arts. From 1985 until 1989, Mr. Triplett worked as the assistant city editor. He was then tapped for the city editor role, a position he held for the next decade. Just prior to beginning his current role as a freelancer, he worked as The Daily Oklahoman's senior feature writer and columnist - positions he held from 1999 until 2013. With hundreds of articles and reviews under his belt, he is now celebrating four decades of valuable contributions to his field.

Over the course of his career, Mr. Triplett has won numerous awards for his work, including the Feature Writing Award from the Society of Professional Journalists, First Place - Entertainment Features at the Great Plains Journalism Competition and the First Place - Reviews through the Associated Press Oklahoma News Executives Competition. Mr. Triplett, the author of "Wheel Man," published in 2016, has also been featured in Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in the South and Southeast and Who's Who in the World. He was inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame in 2011 for having created widespread awareness of Oklahoma's musical tradition through his extensive writing. At the event, he appeared on stage with Kristin Chenoweth and sang "Oklahoma."

Mr. Triplett served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam from 1969 to 1971. He is a current member of the Oklahoma Film Critics Circle as well as a current member of the Board of Directors for Oklahoma City Crime Stoppers. He is a former member of the Oklahoma Heart Association's communications committee and served as President of the Associated Press' Oklahoma News Executives Board (1995-96).
