Leonora Rita Villegas Obed Celebrates 20 Years of Literary Success

Ms. Obed is a renowned writer and educator with a particular interest in 18th century literature

    WEST TRENTON, NJ, January 31, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Leonora Rita Villegas Obed has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Widely regarded for her skills as a writer and educator, Ms. Obed recently celebrated 20 years of professional success in English literature. Since the beginning of her career, she has authored numerous articles, novels and plays, in addition to being a speaker and presenter in her field of expertise. One of her most recent performances was a one-woman show, titled "Poets and Playwrights for Pen-Persons," which took place at the Straube Center in Pennington, N.J. Ms. Obed has also served as a reader for various radio broadcasts, including a 2006 broadcast for the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped. Since 2005, she has been a lector with Our Lady Good Counsel Church in West Trenton.

Ms. Obed began her career upon graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in English literature and philosophy from St. Joseph's University in 1993. During this time, she also received postgraduate certification in 18th century literature, with honors, from the College of New Jersey. In 1994, Ms. Obed graduated with a Master of Arts in English literature from the University of Toronto, where she also taught seminar courses from 1994 to 1995. She is actively involved with a wide variety of literary organizations, including the National Women's Museum, the Jane Austen Society of North America, the Oscar Wilde Society and the Modern Language Association. Additionally, Ms. Obed is a mentor for Native American Futures for Children and an assistant editor of the Thornton Wilder Society newsletter, as well as a clerk and election official for the New Jersey Board of Elections.

Since the turn of the century, Ms. Obed has been featured in a wide range of honors publications, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who of American Women and Who's Who in the World. In addition, she was included in the 1st edition of Who's Who of Emerging Leaders, published in 2006. She also received a creative writing fellowship from Vermont Studio Center in 2008.
