Robert Smallwood Honored by Marquis Who's Who for Excellence in Secondary Education

Mr. Smallwood spent more than four decades teaching social studies at the secondary level



    TRENTON, NJ, March 29, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Robert Smallwood has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Having always been motivated to get students excited about learning, Mr. Smallwood spent more than four decades as an educator at the secondary level. Over the course of his career, he was a school disciplinarian for the Trenton Board of Education, acting assistant principal for Junior High School #1, #2, and #5, teacher of the gifted and talented, and teacher of social studies at Dunn Junior High School. Mr. Smallwood also met with success as a school reform site facilitator for Dunn Junior High School and a teacher of business education for the Trenton Board of Education. Active in the academic community, Mr. Smallwood was a member of the district's affirmative action advanced council and the National Teacher Corps Project. He was also a financial advisor for MS Principal.

Before establishing his career, Mr. Smallwood served in the United States Army, through which he earned a decorated Bronze Star, an Army Commendation Medal with oak leaf cluster, a Joint Service Commendation Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. Following his tenure in the service, he focused on educational pursuits in preparation for a career as a teacher. He earned a Bachelor of Science in commerce and business administration from Rider College in 1969, a Master of Arts in school administration and supervision in 1976, and an Ed.S. in educational administration and supervision from Rutgers University in 1983. Additionally, Mr. Smallwood is a certified social studies teacher, secondary school principal, and supervisor of curriculum and instruction in the states of Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

In recognition of professional excellence in education, Mr. Smallwood was honored by inclusion in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in the World, and Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America. His professional affiliations include the National Education Association, the Virginia Genealogical Society, the Maryland Genealogical Society, the Maryland Historical Society, the National Genealogical Society, and the Association of Professional Genealogists. In the years to come, Mr. Smallwood intends to continue enjoying his retirement while assuming on select education-related projects.
