Dr. David Verney Celebrated as a Leading Scientist by Marquis Who's Who

Dr. Verney has conducted groundbreaking research on the evolution of "magic numbers" in radioactive nuclei and contributed to several well-known works on the subject.

    PARIS, FRANCE, April 28, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. David Verney has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

As a nuclear scientist and educator, Dr. Verney has conducted groundbreaking research on the evolution of "magic numbers" in radioactive nuclei and contributed to several well-known works on the subject. Currently a member of the scientific council of Institut de Physique Nucleaire in Orsay, a joint laboratory of the CNRS and the University of Paris Sud, he was formerly the headmaster of its nuclear structure group, as well as a nuclear physics researcher at the GANIL facility in Caen. He also served as an assistant professor at the University of Paris from 2000 to 2001.

In addition to these roles, Dr. Verney has been the manager of detection resources for ALTO in Orsay and a scientific coordinator for the ALTO European Transnational Access facility, also in Orsay. Several of his research papers have been included in scientific journals, such as European Physical Journal A, Physical Review Letters, Physical Review C and Nuclear Instruments & Methods in Physics Research.

Dr. Verney, who received a Ph.D. from Grenoble University, notably designed multidetector gamma arrays and plans to continue making strides in the disciplines of radioactivity, spectroscopy, experimental nuclear physics, and nuclear fission. He took a decisive role in the research team of the Institut de Physique Nucleaire who developed a radioactive ion-beam production technique using photo-fission for the first time in the world. He has been included in Who's Who in Science and Engineering and Who's Who in the World.
